If you are interested in a career in nursing, the Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University School of Nursing (SON) has a sole purpose to prepare exceptional nurses by creating a dynamic atmosphere where intellectual leaders are prepared to assume advanced roles as esteemed members of the Health Care team in order to improve the delivery of health care and scientific knowledge underpinning evidence-based, culturally appropriate nursing practice to the residents of the state, the nation, and the world. What does Professional Development (PD) look like for Nursing:
Your PD will vary based upon your specific major. In addition, the top skills needed in the nursing field include active listening, social perceptiveness, service orientation, speaking, and coordination. Abilities that are helpful to have are oral comprehension, oral expression, deductive reasoning, inductive reasoning, and problem sensitivity. Some typical work activities may include: assisting and caring for others, documenting and recording information, getting relevant information, making decisions and solving problems, and updating and using relevant information.Â
