The Career and Professional Development Center is dedicated to connecting our talented students with meaningful employment, experiential educational opportunities, and developing partnerships with employers, administrators, faculty, and alumni on projects that enhance career opportunities. We facilitate networking opportunities for FAMU students and employers through career expos, recruitment events, information sessions, and many other special events and programs.

We greatly value our employer partners and we are committed to helping you maximize your recruiting efforts at FAMU.

Let us help you build your campus brand at FAMU

Building your brand on campus provides students with the knowledge and insight to consider your organization within a competitive recruiting environment.

Building a brand is a sophisticated process that will help you become a recognized campus partner. Employers with the strongest brand at FAMU use a variety of strategies to attract and connect with candidates. These may include, but are not limited to the following:

Build your Brand

The FAMU University Career and Professional Development Center is happy to collaborate with you to create an event or schedule a visit at a time that works for you.

Our recruitment activities are held throughout the year and managed on HireARattler powered by Handshake, our career management system.

  • Build Your Brand – Resume Cafe ↓

    Resume Cafe

Employers conduct resume critiques to help prepare students for the job application process.

  • Build Your Brand – Presentations ↓

    Workshops & Classroom Presentations

We encourage you to engage with students by leading professional development workshops in the classroom. These workshops are aligned with the FAMU Strike in Four: Career Action Plan and the NACE Career Competencies.  Topics include resume development and critiques, interviewing skills, developing leadership for career success, electronic etiquette, and social media footprint.

  • Build Your Brand – Mock Interview Day ↓

    Mock Interview Days

A practice interview for students with professionals. Each interview lasts approximately 20 minutes and then the student is given constructive feedback to help them improve their interview skills.

  • Recruit – Micro-Internships ↓

Employers may provide a flexible, short-term, paid professional assignment, similar to a consulting or contractor position. Unlike a traditional semester-long internship, micro-internship projects will usually involve between 5 and 40 hours of work. The work can be done remotely and is offered throughout the year.

Add your Micro-Internship Opportunity to the FAMU Parker Dewey Platform.

  • Recruit – Career Expos/Fairs ↓

    Career Expos/Fairs

The Career and Internship Expos are held in the fall and spring at the beginning of each semester.  Over 150 employers participate in each event and recruit students from all majors and classifications.  The Expo provides students and employers networking opportunities as well as provides a mechanism for the pre-selection interview process.

  • Recruit – Information Sessions ↓

    Employer Snack Chat (Information Sessions)

Share information about your company, the hiring process, and what you look for in a candidate.  At the “Employer Snack Chat” 5 employers will have the opportunity to meet with a group of interested students and alumni to share information about your company/organization and discuss career opportunities.

  • Recruit – Information Tables ↓

    Information Tables

Company representatives may occupy a table in our student commons area to distribute company literature and speak to students about career opportunities with your organization.

  • Recruit – On-Campus Interviews ↓

    On-Campus Interviews

Dates may be arranged to interview candidates in our office for current or projected openings within your organization.
