Education

Welcome to FAMU’s Education Community!

About Education:

The education profession is more than just hands-on teacher preparation in a subject area!  The people who become educators usually have a sincere desire to make a difference in the lives of others.  Rattlers in an education career may also explore sports management-physical education, health and recreation, the arts and sciences with STEAM-based learning, and educational leadership. The possibilities are endless from the baccalaureate degree to the Ph.D.

What does Professional Development (PD) look like for Education:

PD looks different depending on your subject area and level in the career field.  Rattlers majoring in elementary and secondary education will complete fieldwork also known as an internship plus obtain a license to teach.  A few hard skills for this industry include computer-based training software, database user interface, query software, and spreadsheet software.  Soft skills include critical thinking, active listening, time management, organization, and coordination.
