Amazon Internship Turns Into Full-Time Position for SJGC Student

SJGC Public Relations student, Tanasia Reed, has secured a post-grad offer with Amazon! Reed’s offer is for a full-time position as a PR Assistant at their second headquarters in Arlington, Virginia beginning in July of 2022.

Set to graduate in April of 2022, Reed has completed 5 internships including experience with Slip N’ Slide Records and B2 Communications. Reed’s fifth internship opportunity with Amazon, as part of the first public relations intern cohort, allowed her to connect and speak with current Amazon employees who are also HBCU graduates. “It was a great experience that helped solidify my post-graduation goals with real-world in-house public relations experience,” Reed said.

Although she completed the 12-week internship virtually, she received the opportunity to travel to Seattle, Washington twice. “I worked virtually and traveled to Seattle, Washington twice to work on a wide range of projects, including researching media contacts for Amazon Books, brainstorming social content for a national awareness campaign, pitching a new social media monitoring tool for the company, and more,” Reed said.

Her experience has led her to gain over five mentors in the communication industry, one on one meetings with Amazon communications professionals, and a spot among professional employee groups like the Black Employee Network.
