Summary/Objective
The Orlando Science Center Meetings and Events department produces over 150 events annually, spanning from captivating weddings to prominent corporate functions. Boasting an impressive 200,000 sq. ft. of versatile exhibit and event space, we provide an expansive canvas for private rentals. We take pride in catering our services to a range of clients, where the unique details often reflect the passions of the client. From Star Wars themed weddings complete with lightsabers to corporate events transformed into scenes straight out of Jurassic Park, interns have the chance to dive into a variety of exciting events. The primary goal of the Meetings and Events department is to deliver exceptional customer service while building excellent relationships with our clients and vendors. Interns have the opportunity to collaborate closely with our coordinators, gaining hands-on event management experience.
Essential Functions
1. Written, oral, visual, and electronic (W.O.V.E.) communicating with clients and vendors.
2. Conducting site visits that showcase our event capabilities with clients and vendors
3. Preparing event contracts, work orders, and invoices.
4. Assist in the on-site execution of events by supporting vendor load-in and load-out, décor set up and breakdown, and by monitoring overall event logistics.
5. Contribute to our social media presence by creating engaging content
6. Analyze and curate our extensive photo library to capture the essence of our events

Minimum Qualifications
Education: Candidates currently enrolled and pursuing a degree in Hospitality/Event Management preferred.

Physical demands:
1. Must be able to stand for long periods of time.
2. Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
Pay
At the completion of the semester, a $500 stipend will be provided.
Expected Hours of Work:
An individual schedule will be made upon start date of internship.
- Intern will serve one office day each week and 1-2 events each week, most events occur during Friday, Saturday, and Sunday evenings.
- Must commit to one full semester that runs concurrently with the school year, spanning from the week of May 6, 2024, to the week of August 5, 2024.
- Intern should be available most of the following dates for our events from 3:00 pm – 12:00 am (hours will vary): May 9, 17, 18, 23, 25; June 6, 15, 21, 22; July 13, 14, 16, 18, 25; August 2.
- Must attend an Orlando Science Center orientation (TBD).
