Position Title: Intern, Scientific Affairs
Position Overview: The Scientific Affairs intern will support the Clinical Affairs division with a variety of grants and communications related tasks. The SA Intern will gain hands-on, real-life analytical and communications experience in a non-profit environment for a large medical society.
Responsibilities:
ASTRO’s Scientific Affairs is looking for a summer intern to:
- Conduct an analysis of ASTRO’s seed grant funding program to describe the results of the program by measuring subsequent funding, publications, and academic promotion of researchers;
- Develop communications (i.e. update website) to highlight success stories of funded researchers;
- Organize and manage a webinar to discuss academic promotion.
This internship opportunity will include learning how to use the ProposalCentral platform to update our records and conduct some of the analysis. Individuals interested in biology, physics, pre-med, history or communications might be particularly well-suited to this opportunity.
Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program in a relevant field (e.g., biomedical sciences, healthcare administration, communications, liberal arts).
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Understanding of grants, medical terminology and research ethics is a plus.
Duration and Schedule:
- This is a paid internship at a starting rate of $20.00/Hour.
- This is a temporary internship position lasting 8-10 weeks, exact start date TBD (no benefits).
- The intern is expected to work in a hybrid work setting with flexible hours, approximately 15-20 hours per week, depending on workload and availability.
