The U.S. Agency for Global Media (USAGM) is an exciting, multi-media, multi-cultural, global media agency that carries out all United States civilian international broadcasting. Our media networks complement and reinforce one another in a shared mission vital to U.S. national interests: to inform, engage, and connect people around the world in support of freedom and democracy. Our staff of dedicated professionals serve as an example of a free and independent media, bringing news, information, and relevant discussions to a weekly audience of over 394 million people worldwide in over 63 languages via radio, television, Internet, and social media. USAGM networks include the Voice of America and the Office of Cuba Broadcasting (Radio and TV Marti) and four grantee organizations: Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty, the Middle East Broadcasting Networks (Alhurra TV and Radio Sawa), Radio Free Asia and the Open Technology Fund (OTF).

Broadcasting Internships
Internships within USAGM Networks duties may include:
- Research and production of daily audio/video programming.
- Composition of special reports
- Research for stories or profiles, news events, features and special topics;
- Camera work
- Interviews
- Logging
- Transcription
- Organizing footage
- Collection of b-roll
- Writing
- Editing audio/video, mobile and social media.
Program Support Internships
Internships within USAGM Program Support Offices: Administration, Contracts, Public Affairs & Relations, Human Resources, Graphics and Research duties may include:
- Research
- Writing/Policy
- Graphics
- Analyzing Data
- Preparing Reports
- Data Cleansing
General Information Location: Washington, D.C.
Eligibility:
- Undergraduate or graduate student enrolled in an accredited college or university
- US Citizenship or have lived in the U.S. for three (3) consecutive years.
- Suitable for Federal employment, determined by background investigation.
- An Explorer’s Mindset and a Willingness to Learn!
Compensation: Voluntary and unpaid (though a transportation stipend is provided)

Deadlines:
- Applications are accepted year round.
- A typical internship runs 10-12 weeks with the students working 20-35 hours a week
- If targeting a specific internship period, recommend to apply in January-March for summer internships, in May-June for fall internships, and October- November for spring internships. Allow 4-5 weeks for processing paperwork.
