Connecting Rattlers to Meaningful Paid Experiences
Rattlers In the Community Internship Program is a career-focused internship initiative designed to connect Florida A&M University students with local businesses, nonprofit organizations, startups, and community partners for meaningful, skills-based internship opportunities.Through the program, students gain real-world experience, build career readiness skills, and strengthen their professional networks while earning income through Federal Work-Study (FWS) funding. The program was created to expand access to high-quality experiential learning opportunities and help students begin building their professional pathway early in their college journey.
Rattlers In the Community is especially focused on supporting career engagement for Pell-eligible sophomores, juniors, and seniors, as well as graduate students. The program also strengthens partnerships between FAMU and local employers committed to student success and workforce development.
Through participation in Rattlers In the Community, students can:
- Gain hands-on professional experiences
- Develop career readiness competencies
- Explore career interests and industries
- Build professional confidence and networks
- Strengthen resumes and future internship competitiveness
- Earn compensation while learning
Employers participating in the program provide structured internship experiences, supervision, mentoring, and professional development opportunities that help students grow both personally and professionally.
