Although we are currently working in a totally virtual environment, no decision for the Spring 2022 has been finalized. We know that there will be a virtual option, but hope to be able to have some in-person meetings or events.
That said, our leadership team and staff successfully transitioned our unique workforce development program to a virtual environment in 2020 and have continued to perfect our virtual connections with our Apprentices (what we call interns.) Trainings, project plan reviews, meetings, supervision, and celebrations will be conducted through Zoom. Check-ins with our Apprentices occur daily. Our goal is to ensure that every Apprentice feels connected and valued.
The Policy and Legislative Analysis Team Team will give hardworking apprentices the opportunity to delve into the inner workings of the policy making process and develop transferable skills in advocacy. This team is responsible for researching policy and best practices on TCC’s key issues that are affecting Florida’s children. Policy apprentices are also involved in creating public awareness by providing input on legislation, and assisting with the development of bill analyses, one-pagers for meetings with key stakeholders, action alerts, bill amendments, and publications that track legislation as it moves through the legislative process in real time. Policy apprentices work under the direct supervision and guidance of the Director of Policy, Amanda Ostrander.
Our apprenticeship program is designed so that all students:
- Develop leadership skills by leading meetings and spearheading at least one project
- Build their portfolio of real-life work samples
- Practice networking skills
- Collaborate on cross-functional projects that involve the communications and business development teams to gain a holistic understanding of the inner working of a nonprofit
- Receive a letter of recommendation upon successful completion of the program
To qualify for our program, you must be able to work 15-20 hours per week for at least two consecutive semesters. Note that this is an unpaid position, but many Apprentices receive course credit for their work with us. You can apply today by sending the following information to email@example.com:
