About The Organization:
NY Small Farma Ltd. (the New York Small Farm Alliance of Cannabis Growers and Supporters) is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) working to ensure social and environmental justice for cannabis in New York State.
We advocate for regeneration in both farming practices and for our communities as well. We believe all New Yorkers should reap the benefits from the end of cannabis prohibition.
Regenerative farming is an agricultural technique that does not harm land and water but helps to improve the surrounding environment. This form of agriculture restores degraded soil biodiversity, which in turn creates healthy soil, capable of growing nutrient dense plants. The effects of this method result in both a decline in greenhouse gasses and an improved water cycle. Thus, farming cannabis with this technique can actually assist in reversing climate change. Regenerative cannabis farming is conducted on a small scale, grown outdoors in the sun, and utilizes a sustainable farming system.
Regenerative farming not only produces high quality product while benefiting the environment, it benefits our communities. We help to develop and support policies that promote a thriving craft farm industry that mirrors the diversity of our great state. We believe government policies should ensure the new businesses, jobs, and revenue generated by this new industry, directly benefit New York communities above individual or corporate benefit. Within those communities, we believe farming communities and communities that have suffered the most as a result of the criminalization of cannabis, in particular, minority communities, should be prioritized as those deserving the greatest economic benefit from the cannabis industry.
