Collaborate in meaningful innovation
Innovation is essential for society and is critical for industry growth. Are you ready to be part of the innovation workforce?
Innovate-A-thon (IAT) provides opportunities for students to work with fellow students and those from other universities to not just engage in innovation, but to lead the process.
Student teams assess the needs in a specific challenge (such as resource viable prosthetics for developing nations; new approaches to recycling; pedestrian safety; orphan but necessary tools, etc), through ideation improvement, solution design, and deployment pathway proposals—all within a three week period. The three week period includes one week of process awareness, and a two week sprint working with team members. Student team members collaborate through Remo technology platform, enabling involvement from students regardless of geographic location.
In addition to receiving a modest scholarship ($450- $600), robust real-world experience, substantial career advancement opportunities are available through IAT participation: Students connect directly with members of industry, and potential employers, gain exposure to innovative companies, and expand their professional networks.
The culmination of the IAT includes final presentation of all teams’ concepts, with judges representing industry and innovation expertise.
Through a nationwide vote it was determined the next Innovate-A-thon topic will be based around New Approaches to Recycling. Students will explore how to achieve a regenerative supply chain, embracing innovative advanced recycling and sustainability approaches that prioritize material origin and product design. New innovations can enhance response and reuse mechanisms, creating more efficient and environmentally responsible systems.
Students from all fields of study are welcome to apply—applicants must have passion for innovation and 12-16 hours during a three-week period, and ability to join online collaboration platform during collaboration and opening & closing presentations.
