éclat Law LLP is a boutique litigation and business law firm that provides legal services throughout the State of Florida. The law firm was founded in August 2015 and has grown significantly over the past three years. The law firm is looking for several Law Clerks to work with its lawyers in the litigation department and lending support to the firm’s transactional lawyers. JOB DESCRIPTIONa) Assist lawyers by investigating facts, preparing legal documents, or researching legal precedent. Conduct research to support a legal proceeding, to formulate a defense, or to initiate legal action.b) Maintains the Managing Partner’s, and other firm attorneys, calendar by planning and scheduling client conferences, teleconferences, attorney meetings, dispositions, couriers, and court reporters; recording and monitoring court appearance dates, pleadings, and filing requirements.c) Support attorneys, and or management staff by communicating and obtaining information and following-up on delegated assignments. d) Research and analyze law sources such as statutes, recorded judicial decisions, legal articles, treaties, constitutions, and legal codes.e) Assist lawyers in preparing for transactional closings, depositions, hearings, trails, and conferences.f) Investigate factual evidence of a transaction or case and to determine causes of action and prepare case accordingly.g) Draft legal court documents, such as briefs, pleadings, motions, affidavits and subpoenas; transactional documents, such as trusts, wills, contracts and real estate leases; and closing documents for review, approval and use by Managing Partners, and/or Attorneys.h) Conducting routine discovery in support of litigation matters handled by firm attorneys.i) Organizing and tracking files for important transactions or case documents, including pleadings and voluminous discovery documents; creating and maintaining a case-management database.j) Maintains client confidence by keeping client/attorney information confidential.k) Accomplishes organization goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job witness accomplishments.l) Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed and adhering to the Firm’s quality guidelines.m) Have a minimum of 20 hours’ of billable time recorded on Clio every week.n) Complete appropriate amount of work on time as required.o) Maintains standards of absolute integrity; accepts no compromise of principles.p) Please note this job description is not designed to cover or contain a complete listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job. Duties, responsibilities and activities may change at any time with or without notice.EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCEa) Bachelor’s degree in legal studies (preferred) and one year of law school KNOWLEDGEa) English Language – Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.b) Law and Government – Knowledge of laws, legal codes, court procedures, precedents, government regulations, executive orders, agency rules, and the democratic political process.c) Clerical – Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as word processing, managing files and records; and other office procedures and terminology.d) Computers and Electronics – Proficient in Microsoft Office 365 (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Calendar, OneDrive, etc.), Clio (or similar time-keeping programs), Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, file-saving programs, etc.e) Client and Personal Service – Knowledge of principles and processes for providing client and personal services.
