D. E. Shaw Research seeks hardware engineers to join our New York–based team as paid summer interns. Opportunities are available for undergraduate- and graduate-level Electrical Engineering or Computer Science candidates with backgrounds in systems architecture, ASIC design and verification, VLSI physical design, or parallel computing.
D. E. Shaw Research is pursuing long-term projects aimed at fundamentally transforming the process of drug discovery. Our group is developing multiple generations of the ANTON® supercomputer, a fully custom, massively parallel machine which executes molecular dynamics simulations orders of magnitude faster than was previously possible. We design and verify our own ASICs to run on ANTON®, and we’re developing large, high-performance designs in advanced process technologies.
Interns spend 12-15 weeks working closely with members of our hardware team on a substantial engineering project. Past interns have contributed to projects such as designing modules on our node boards, design verification of our ASICs, and developing pipelines and tools for the chip design and verification processes. Throughout the summer, interns are invited to participate in a seminar series led by members of our technical team and in lively social programming. We provide our interns with above-market compensation and a generous housing allowance.
If you are interested in exploring groundbreaking research topics with the mentorship of our world-class, interdisciplinary team of engineers, chemists, and computer scientists, please use the link below to submit your application materials: (We accept applications on a rolling basis throughout the calendar year)
