Fort Myers, FL based retail pharmacy is seeking a motivated, professional individual to fill the role of staff pharmacist.
The pharmacist is the patient advocate and serves as a resource to advise the physician on the best available pharmaceutical products or services for his/her patient. The pharmacist proactively assures that the customers’ prescriptions are filled accurately and timely and that the customer is counseled appropriately with all pertinent information on the use of their medication. The pharmacist often has the final word directing the staff to accomplish the above in an efficient, legal, cost-effective, and courteous manner.
Along with the pharmacy manager and assistant pharmacy manager, the staff pharmacist oversees:
- Proper storage of medications
- Prescription data input
- Prescription filling
- Prescription purchasing and inventory
- Necessary legal documentation of filling prescriptions
The staff pharmacist:
- Communicates with physicians and other medical personnel
- Is the patient’s pharmaceutical advocate
- Recommends alternative pharmaceutical therapy when appropriate
- Performs final check on prescriptions
- Counsels patients on the appropriate use of their medications
- Teaches patients on the appropriate use of medical devices
- Assists other personnel with third-party formulary challenges
- Advises customers in the store or over the phone relating to their over-the-counter products, nutritional supplements, and prescription needs
- Assures that all technicians and pharmacy operations are conducted safely and according to pharmacy law
- Conducts medication reviews as requested by patients
- Conducts community classes or marketing functions as necessary
- Administers immunizations and follows pharmacy procedure to give immunizations
- Oversees ordering, storage, and dispensing of CII prescriptions and other controlled drugs
- Becomes proficient in and follows current MTM practices performed in the pharmacy
- Maintains customer and prescriber awareness of unique products & services, especially prescription compounding, med sync, and wellness services
- Provides input and assistance with the pharmacy inventory control with diligent attention to appropriate and responsible product replenishment and turnover
