We are presently interviewing for unpaid internship opportunities for our Broward County office. The length of the internship will be based on the amount of hours the student needs for full credit and will be between 20-25 hours per week. The selected candidate will work in an office setting, court setting, and classroom setting based on the student’s interest and the needs of the agency. Our office is located in Ft. Lauderdale off West Broward Blvd.
Court Options provides pretrial services in conjunction with the Broward State Attorney’s Office.
Court Options provides an array of learning opportunities and an excellent opportunity to be exposed to multiple areas in the criminal justice system and learn and work with our team.
The selected candidate will be mentored by the Office Supervisor and given the opportunity to rotate and participate in hands on experience in the areas listed below. Many of our past interns have been hired as permanent employees and promoted to supervisor positions.

- Psycho-educational Correction Classes
- Financial Literacy
- Jobs Skills Workshops
The intern will have an opportunity to grow by working with our program in multiple areas. If the intern is selected, the intern will receive an orientation training on the program standard operating procedures. The values the intern will learn is how to treat individuals in the criminal justice system with empathy while still holding the individual accountable. We strive to treat all our clients with dignity and respect as one of our core values.
The intern will learn and understand how to work with individuals in a court setting and apply interpersonal skills when interacting with clients. Additionally, the intern will have the opportunity to work with our group facilitators when teaching classes and workshop. The intern will learn how to prepare for a class by understanding the goal of the class and implementing curriculum. The intern will also be given an opportunity to co-facilitate classes and workshops with the facilitator. Understanding the principles of case management will be part of the internship. The intern will learn proper phone skills and etiquette and best practices when working with clients in person or over the phone. Depending on the need of the office there could be an opportunity to research on recidivism outcomes and relicensing rates in Florida.
