CEA’s Virtual internships abroad offer you the opportunity to gain valuable résumé experience, build a global professional network and expand your skill set while staying local. Offered across 11 cities in nine countries around the world, CEA’s virtual internships abroad allow you to boost your career path and add skills that will set you apart from candidates once you graduate and enter the job market. Whether you’re majoring in business, journalism, finance, arts, marketing or another field, CEA offers a range of virtual internship abroad placements designed to suit your interests.

CEA Virtual Internships Abroad aligns each internship and the seminar course to the skills essential for you to be considered career ready personalized to your interests in alignment with the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE). Each intern will create personalized learning objectives for their internship that align to at least three of the eight NACE Career Readiness Competencies in the online course:

  • Critical Thinking/Problem Solving
  • Leadership
  • Teamwork/Collaboration
  • Career Management
  • Oral/Written Communication
  • Digital Technology
  • Professionalism/Work Ethic
  • Global/Intercultural Fluency

Virtual interns will complete an 8 week project-based internship in one of 10 global cities. Each week, interns will work through an online course and complete 20+ hours of internship projects. Interns will meet weekly with their supervisor for assistance on projects. Additionally, interns will meet with a NACE Certified Career Coach each week focused on your professional development and with a CEA in-country Internship Coordinator to learn about the host culture.

Each internship is customized to the intern’s career interest, personalized learning objectives and readiness to participate in the virtual internship. Your CEA NACE Certified Career Coach will work with you to identify the best fit for your internship that will challenge and support your growth. CEA works with small to medium sized enterprises ranging from NGO’s, government agencies, start-ups and more to maximize your impact and skill development.

Qualifications & Requirements

1 year as a registered college student by the time of application

3-4 courses directly related to the internship field of interest or 6 weeks full time work in the field is encouraged.

Students who demonstrate high levels of discipline, initiative, verbal and oral communication skills, motivation, and flexibility throughout the process are most successful in securing placements
