Position Title: Health Promotions Coordinator

Description: The Health Promotion Coordinator position is a 40 hour per week professional job that works closely with staff on the Closing the Gap (CTG) grant from the Florida Department of Health’s Office of Minority Health and Health Equity and the Health Insurance Navigator grant. The Health Promotion Coordinator will report directly to the Health Promotions Manager and help execute these programs across the Big Bend AHEC/RHN service area.
Key Responsibilities & Duties:
· The coordinator shall assist in ensuring that the contractors are meeting deadlines.
· Enter data and help with completing the monthly and quarterly reports.
· Plan events, organize screening days, and conduct outreach activities.
· Keep complete records of activities/hours in an accurate and timely manner.
· Be a team player and able to follow oral and written instructions.
The Health Promotion Coordinator will utilize a public health approach to create, provide, and coordinate wellness and health promotion, prevention programs, and services with a focus on lifestyle modifications through education. The coordinator will incorporate multicultural diversity concepts and principles into services. This will be carried out in concert with the overall strategic direction from the Health Promotions Manager to ensure that grant deliverables are met.
Qualifications: A bachelor’s or higher is required, with some experience in the health field. Public health and community health experience is preferred. The incumbent must be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel and Word. Bilingual (Spanish) would be helpful. She/he should have the ability to work with individuals from various ethnic and socio-economic backgrounds while providing compassionate service. A valid Florida driver’s license with a clean record is required.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions: Must be able to sit in front of a computer screen for periods of time and be able to operate standard office equipment, including a computer, stamina to maintain attention to detail despite the interruption. Good vision to read printed materials and a computer screen, and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone. This position conducts work in the office and in the field (some remote work may be necessary).
